Crowden Residential Trip

The students and staff all had a fantastic time and we were so pleased with their behaviour and achievements.

Although they were really tired at the end of the week, they still persevered with the activities with amazing enthusiasm.

The weather was brilliant on Wednesday and Thursday, Friday the heavens opened but it didn't put us off.

Wednesday

We did a brilliant hill walk on the Wednesday and the students were pushed physically, some used walking sticks to help them which really helped.  The highlight of this activity was the mud pools (which you can see from the pictures on The Gallery).  The muddier the better seemed to be the motto!

We returned and enjoyed our dinners, had showers and watched the DVD Steve had filmed during the day.

Thursday

Thursday we had a cooked breakfast with all the trimmings, croissants, cereal and toast.  We then drove to a place called Hobson Moore to do a climb and abseil.  Nerves ran high and we had a brave warrior volunteered to go first down the 80 foot cliff face!  We were very impressed!

Most of the student's climbed up a slightly easier route using a rope and harness, they were very brave and had to use their strength to pull themselves over the top of the rocks.

We returned to lunch and then set off Weaselling.  All of the students managed to go into the rocks and squeeze their way out of them.  We were all tired on return for tea, showers and free time.  Some played snooker and some played on the Wii.  We watched the DVD that Steve had put together in the games room and visited the tuck shop.

Friday

On the Friday we got up, packed and had another full breakfast then set off for the zip wire across the river.  All the students were very brave and had to stand on tree roots to leap out on a rope over the river! The photo's are brilliant.

Cold and wet, we had hot chocolates and asked the students to choose if they wanted to do Archery.  5 of the students did and really enjoyed this.  We had lunch and left for school at 12.30 arriving back just in time for Taxis.

Please take a look at the fantastic photos on The School Gallery...

Our Steel Drums

In February we held a competition for all students to design our new steel drums.  An artist called Helen chose some of our designs and painted our drums.  Here is a photograph in Music of some of students playing the painted drums.

There are more photographs of the steel drums on the gallery...
